DESCRIPTION: APW - Aurora, "Caulfield Watch For Railway Service" marked mvt, 15J, 18S, coin silver HC recase with nickel cuvette, "Caulfield" marked white enamel SS dial, SW-LS, nickel damascene, s#140648. A rare and interesting private label made for H.R. Caulfield of San Francisco, it is believed that the total production of these "Caulfield Watch For Railway Service" is approximately 255 made per Greg Frauenhoff's excellent Aurora Watch Co. book. From the collection of Dr. Robert Restuccia.
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, fine-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, some marring around balance jewel setting, balance jewel setting with one mismatched screw, plates with some scattered small spots, nicks and fine to micro-fine scratches; dial with scattered hls, edge chip or flake at setting lever area, small flake to upper rim of seconds-register hole, small edge flake under bezel at 7:30; excellent hands; case shows little wear, an attractive patina, dent at upper-left perimeter of rear, dent to band near 8, few small dings to rear, good engine turning detail; tight bow, crown shows light wear with some ridge break and is seated fairly high on pendant with a bit of excess up/down play; good glass crystal.
